Went to rotate the tires on the Envoy today and discovered that the shop that did the alignment after I replaced the tie rod ends a few months ago either over-torqued or cross threaded one lug on each front wheel. One snapped off as I was trying to remove it and the other just ate the threads as it came off.
Am I running a big risk driving around on 5 lugs for a few days until I can get it into the shop?

You’ll be OK as long as the others are not damaged too.

I’ve been running around with broken studs for years. Two wheels are down to four. Hell they’ve even passe tech at multiple dragways like that.

Nah you’ll be fine. I lost a lug one time and drove around with 3 outta 4 lugs on one wheel for a day or two. you’ll be safer since your only missing 15% of yours vs 25%.

Don’t do it.
Ask me how I know. Swapping out lugs takes 10min, and if you already have the wheels off you might as well put a new one in. All you really need is a five pound sledge hammer.

5 out of 6 isn’t bad for just a few days , but I think I’d keep it off the freeway just to be safe.
In my opinion, 4 out of 5 (80%) would also be temporarily tolerable, but 3 out of 4 (75%) would be pushing it, I think.

You should be fine for a few days, but take it easy. And if you hear (or feel) a pop or something feels a little wobbly, stop and check it out ASAP. If one lug was damaged, there’s a chance the others were as well.
